SIGMA POC (2025): 2ⁿᵈ round


What do you need to know



  • The Czech Technology Agency's SIGMA-DC1 programme, 'Support for Proof of Concept Activities in Research Organisations', focuses on verifying the practical application of the results of applied research and experimental development and preparing them for subsequent commercial or societal use. The programme therefore primarily focuses on the proof of concept phase, i.e. concept verification. The support is not intended for basic research.

  • Charles University has received a total allocation of CZK 18,749,896 for the period 2024–2026 (including administrative costs), to be distributed among sub-projects implemented by individual university departments. 

  • TAČR's level of support is CZK 14,999,916, with a 20% co-participation requirement.

  • The CU's aim is to support high-quality projects that produce results suitable for potential commercial or societal use.

  • Overall coordination and administration of the project is provided by the Charles University Centre for Knowledge and Technology Transfer. The faculties in which the project's participating departments are located are directly responsible for implementing specific sub-projects.

  • The Rector of Charles University decides on the allocation of support to sub-projects on the basis of an evaluation and recommendation by the Charles University Commercialisation Council.


Who is the programme for

Support is intended for CU employees working on projects aimed at verifying the practical application of research results on the market or for societal needs.

Amount of support

Support is recommended at a range of CZK 300,000–900,000 per sub-project (including co-financing). In exceptional and justified cases, support may be increased to CZK 1.1 million (including co-financing).

Co-participation

The co-participation is 20%, paid for by sub-projects.

Implementation period

The projects have a set implementation period of 8 months, from January to August 2026.

Eligible costs

  • personnel costs (max. 40%)

  • subcontracting costs (research services, max. 20%)

  • other costs (e.g., intellectual property protection, materials, travel expenses, services)

  • indirect costs (max. 25%)

What must be included in a complete application

  1. Sub-project form / Formulář dílčího projektu

  2. Mandatory consultation of the sub-project with CPPT/CUIP

  3. Personal presentation of a sub-project to members of the UK Commercialization Council

How to apply

  1. Familiarize yourself with the binding documents. / závaznými dokumenty.

  2. Send the completed section of the Sub-project Form (fill in the highlighted items) to by 4 p.m. on 22 September 2025, and reserve a date and time for the mandatory consultation on 29 or 30 September 2025 here. Please do not leave booking your appointment until the last minute.

  3. Consult with the CPPT/CUIP case team on the sub-project.

  4. Discuss the proposal at your faculty in accordance with the faculty's internal rules.

  5. Please send the completed sub-project form by October 10, 2025, at 4 p.m. in electronic form to .

  6. You will give a presentation of your proposal to the Commercialization Council on the scheduled date of November 6, 2025.
